Infant Massage is a wonderful resource for families and
is easily adapted for use in many populations, including babies needing special care and older children. Unlike
a massage we receive from a Massage Therapist, parents or caregivers are taught the skills needed
to massage their own baby.
Parents sometimes use a book or the Internet to learn about Infant Massage and then say, "My
baby didn't like massage. I did it once and she cried." This probably happened because it is very difficult
to learn Infant Massage in that manner. Learning the strokes is just part of the whole experience and a little extra
help might be all that is needed.
Marcia's expertise in Infant Massage instruction is the ability to adapt to different
situations. She uses a combination of techniques when she teaches Infant/Child massage
which include containment holds, touch holds, East Indian massage, Swedish massage, Reflexology, Korean Hand Massage and
deep breathing. She discusses infant cues and states and comfort measures for gas, reflux and hiccups. If traditional
positioning or strokes do not work with your baby, she can offer alternatives.
Marcia's goal is to bring parents and babies closer by sharing
loving and nurturing touch and having fun together. Parents can continue this family tradition as children grow older.
